Being from Brazil, I had a children's show in mind that I believed would be the perfect fit for my precious bundle of joy. This show revolved around a city boy who embarks on a new life on a farm with his grandparents, giving the party a distinct, cowboyish, farm-inspired feel. I asked my parents to bring party decorations from Brazil and personally crafted customized party favors that seamlessly blended with the theme, also featuring my son.

However, when it came to the cake, one of the most important elements of any celebration, I encountered a challenge. I couldn't find anyone who could translate the essence of my party's theme into a cake and make it custom-made to my needs. So, I took it upon myself to create it. Little did I know that this would mark the beginning of my journey into baking and crafting uniquely decorated cakes and cookies. From there, friends and neighbors began to request me to create the same custom-made treats for their celebrations, eventually prompting me to turn my passion into a business.
This is the cake that I designed for my son's first birthday, it is the very first cake I have ever done! Not too bad for a first timer, won't you agree?

My name is Val Signorelli, and I am the baker and creator behind Floured Delights. Originally from Brazil, I relocated to the United States in 2005 with the intent of learning English and pursuing my education. In 2008, I attained a Master's Degree in Publications Design from the University of Baltimore. A year later, I got married, and welcomed my first son, Oliver, in 2010, and then my second son, Enzo, in 2013. I’ve lived in a few places in the US including Maryland, Missouri and Delaware,but I've called Virginia my home since 2012 and have grown to love this area immensely. The opportunities for personal growth here are truly exceptional. I particularly appreciate the accessibility to fantastic parks, museums, community events, festivals, delectable cuisine, and, of course, incredible wine. After all, wine is a necessity in life!
